News | Food bank and Soup Lunch | St George's Church

As we are in National Lockdown and are currently asked to 'stay at home', the services from St George's will be on line at 10.45 each Sunday and the church will be closed for public worship until the situation improves. Service sheets are on 'Whats on' page of this website. The PCC will consider the situation and when to reopen for worship at their meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A letter from the Wakefield Medical Officer of Health is in the information below. Please pray for our community and particularly those who are working to care for those who are ill and those who are providing vaccinations as well those suffering from the wide ranging effects of Covid 19. Keep safe and help each other to keep well.

Food bank and Soup Lunch

The Soup Lunch is a time to listen to those who come to foodbank. The volunteers chat to our visitors over a bowl of soup or a cup of coffee and the feedback from those who come suggests that this is very helpful.

Thanks to a grant from the Council we are able to supplement the food parcels with some basic toiletries and these are very much appreciated.

Those who run the foodbank are constantly encouraged by the generosity of so many people who leave gifts regularly and often remain anonymous. That kindness makes a lot of difference to many people in our community. Thank you all.
