News | News from Mara | St George's Church

As we are in National Lockdown and are currently asked to 'stay at home', the services from St George's will be on line at 10.45 each Sunday and the church will be closed for public worship until the situation improves. Service sheets are on 'Whats on' page of this website. The PCC will consider the situation and when to reopen for worship at their meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A letter from the Wakefield Medical Officer of Health is in the information below. Please pray for our community and particularly those who are working to care for those who are ill and those who are providing vaccinations as well those suffering from the wide ranging effects of Covid 19. Keep safe and help each other to keep well.

News from Mara

We have recently sent £500 from St George’s to our link parish of Mkirira in Mara, Tanzania. This will help the people there to put electricity in their Church building, and in the vicarage. We have also set up a regular payment of £25 per month to Arthur, the Mara diocesan link officer. This will provide a fund for our link parishes to draw from when they have smaller ongoing needs. We are very pleased that this is now all organised, and pray that it will strengthen our link, and be a very practical help as we seek to work ‘shoulder to shoulder’.
