News | Christingle | St George's Church

As we are in National Lockdown and are currently asked to 'stay at home', the services from St George's will be on line at 10.45 each Sunday and the church will be closed for public worship until the situation improves. Service sheets are on 'Whats on' page of this website. The PCC will consider the situation and when to reopen for worship at their meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A letter from the Wakefield Medical Officer of Health is in the information below. Please pray for our community and particularly those who are working to care for those who are ill and those who are providing vaccinations as well those suffering from the wide ranging effects of Covid 19. Keep safe and help each other to keep well.

Yesterday's Christingle was a wonderful event. The children were excellent as they dressed up to retell the Christmas story, the choir from Snapethorpe Primary School sang beautifully, the congregation joined in all the carols really well and Rev Martine helped us think about a Crispy Christmas!. A big thank you to the Staff and Pupils at Snapethorpe Primary for helping to make the service so special. We also raised £188 for the Children's Society.

The moment of lighting the Christingles and singing Away in a Manger in a circle of about 200 people around the church was a moment to treasure for many people and started the Christmas season for us all. Happy Christmas!
