This letter from Anna Hartley the Wakefield Medical Officer of Health is to all churches and faith communities in Wakefield explaining the very serious situation in our City.
Worship at St George's Church on Sunday at 10.45. This will be a service of Holy Communion on most Sundays. On occasional Sundays there will be Morning Worship. The service will continue to be streamed on Facebook at 10.45am each Sunday. The announcement at the top of this page will say what is happening each week. If you wish to attend please read this information Arrangements for attending morning worship before you let Rev Martine know you are coming. On Sunday 4th October we will be having a service of Holy Communion. Click here to read the Risk Assessment for Holy Communion . The Risk assessment for outside worship is here
We know that although the spread of Covid 19 is much reduced it has not gone away and the care and safety of everyone is our priority. The plans for returning are very thorough and you can read the Risk assessment for reopening St George's here. If you are thinking of coming to church in the next few weeks please let the vicar know using the phone number or e-mail at the top of this page so that you can receive information about the arrangements we have made.
Throughout this time we have been fortunate to have Sunday services streamed on Facebook and there have been regular services through the week. This has helped people to worship in their own homes and to stay in touch with St George's. We thank Rev Martine and all her family for making this possible. These streamed Sunday services will continue for the forseeable future as we move through this gradual reopening.
We continue to be here for our community and for each other, we will continue to support and care for each other in many ways and, with God’s help, we will learn and grow through this.
Do keep praying for those who are health professionals dealing with the virus, for those who are ill, for our nation, community and ourselves at this time.
Foodbank continues to run from the Community Centre at St George's and they appreciate donations of food if you wish to support them. They are also providing othher support for people who are not able to leave their homes or need help again to move back to a normal life. Their number is 01924 369631. See their website for who they are able to help and what they can offer.
Please join us as we continue to pray for:
Those working hard to deal with this situation especially in our hospitals
Our government and the scientific advisers
Those families who have a tough time ahead
For ourselves that we keep free of the virus
And let us thank God that this is a beautiful world and that we are all loved as God's Children. Let us share that love in every encounter we have in the coming days and weeks.
With every blessing,
Revd Martine Crabtree
