News | Planting Centenary Poppies | St George's Church

As we are in National Lockdown and are currently asked to 'stay at home', the services from St George's will be on line at 10.45 each Sunday and the church will be closed for public worship until the situation improves. Service sheets are on 'Whats on' page of this website. The PCC will consider the situation and when to reopen for worship at their meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A letter from the Wakefield Medical Officer of Health is in the information below. Please pray for our community and particularly those who are working to care for those who are ill and those who are providing vaccinations as well those suffering from the wide ranging effects of Covid 19. Keep safe and help each other to keep well.

Planting Centenary Poppies

undefined

Today St George's Brownies planted their poppies in the Church grounds. This is part of a campaign to grow poppies in every church yard to remind us all of the sacrifice of so many people during the First World War which started just 100 years ago. The Brownies learned about the significance of the poppies and will be waiting for them to flower in the summertime.
